Það kemur fram í frétt á vef Íþróttabandalags Reykjavíkur að keppt verði í tveimur greinum í hjólreiðum á alþjóðlegu Reykjavíkurleikunum. Þriðjudaginn 20. janúar verður keppt í CycloCross Eliminator í Reiðhöllinni í Víðidal og föstudaginn 23. janúar verður keppt í Uphill Duel á Skólavörðustíg. Cycling 2015
At RIG 2015 there will be two kinds of cycling competitions. CycloCross on Tuesday January 20th and Uphill duel on Friday January 23rd.
The RIG Cyclocross Eliminator
First time ever in Iceland - The RIG CycloCross Eliminator - will be held in Reiðhöllin in Víðidal on the 20th of January 2014 starting at 19:00.
The race will have fantastic spectator view since and we can promise a very exciting race.
Cyclist can use the bike of their choice, MTB, BMX, Cyclocross etc. but the layout of the course is in the genre of Cyclocross. The course will be about 2-3 minutes long with some forced of-the-bike running over hurdles.
The eliminator race format has four racers starting in a heat were first two racers proceed to the next round.
Riders will be paired randomly in heats. The Elimination will continue until we have only four racers competing about the first time ever Eliminator title in Iceland.

The RIG Uphill duel
The RIG uphill duel will be held in downtown Reykjavik on January 23rd. In the heart of downtown Reykjavik, cyclists will come together in an attempt to settle the fierce debate of which rider and bike combination is the best uphill.
The uphill duel takes place at Skolavordustigur street starting at 19:00 on Friday 23rd of January. The street is geothermally heated, so participants should not need any studded tires to get up the hill.
Cyclists can use the bike of their choice, BMX, mountain bike, road cycling and fixed-gear in a series of grueling head-to-head knock-out rounds on the unforgiving track.
Riders will be paired randomly. A knockout format will halve the field, until just two riders remain for the ultimate showdown. The 1.-8. spot riders will all automatically qualify for the final 32 in the next RIG uphill duel in 2016. If more than 32 participants sign up for this exciting event, a qualification round will be held for the final 32 spots in the days before, stay tuned for more information on that.
